Didn't buy a car from us but need your recently purchased new or used vehicle registered in CT? No problem!

J & F Auto Wholesalers is committed to helping our community by participating in casual sales registration for CT residents that have purchased cars privately or from an out of state dealer.

Below are the General Document requirements for MOST transactions, however, other documentation may be required depending on your transaction. It is extremely important that all customers come in prepared with required documents and completed/filled in paperwork! Please read through thoroughly and come to your appointment as prepared as possible!

General documents required for CT vehicle registration:
  • Title
  • Bill of Sale
  • H-13B Title Application
  • Insurance ID card (MUST be printed and brought with you to your appointment)
  • Driver's license or state ID
  • CT emissions test (required if you have a title from any state other than CT)
Other Notes:

Our dealership cannot process other CT dealer sales. This means, if you purchased your vehicle from a CT dealer, we cannot register the vehicle here.

If you purchased your vehicle from a dealer out of state, we can process your CT registration here. Additional documents are typically required with these sales and should be provided to you by the dealer at the time of sale.

If your vehicle is priced at or valued at (KBB trade-in value) $5,000 or more you MUST bring in your own check or money order made payable to CT DMV for your CT sales tax. CT sales tax is 6.35%. If your vehicle is priced at or valued at less than $5,000 and you do not have a check or money order, J&F Auto can write a check for you to CT DMV and collect the payment by either cash or credit/debit card.

Forms of payment accepted are cash and credit/debit card. Any card transactions will incur a 3% processing fee.

Don't forget to check for any compliance issues! You can check here.

Please remember that while we are doing our very best to continue to service the community and accommodate customers the best we can, we are not a full service DMV and many of our abilities and resources are limited. It is imperative that you do your due diligence prior to your appointment to ensure you come as prepared as possible.

An appointment is required. For more information or to schedule your DMV consultation, please complete a contact form or call us today. You can also find more information on the registration process and requirements here.
